Celebrating a century of Madiba with International Nelson Mandela Day

As we are sure you are all aware, last week Wednesday the world celebrated a century of Madiba with International Nelson Mandela Day. Inside-out collaborated with Chance 2 Advance from Unisa, and the Department of Corrections (DCS) to host a special event at the Kgosi Mampuru Female Correctional Center, which was even covered by the local news!

It was an amazing day of song, dance, stage performances, workshops and of course, inspirational speeches. To read all about it, see the attached report and programme of the day.

We would like to express our gratitude to the female offenders and corrections staff who attended the event and hosted us for the day. Also, our thanks to all those who were involved in making such a wonderful event possible including Dr Genevieve James, Dr Antoinette Pretorius and Mamashu Mabowa, our colleagues from Unisa who facilitated the workshops, Ms Natalia Molebatsi for steering us through the day with her poetry, and of course the inspirational testimony of parolee and Trainee Career Guidance Practitioner Tshepiso Williams, acting DCS Senior Manager Ali Mashabathakga, as well as our very own Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Unisa, the esteemed Professor Mandla Makhanya.
